Cultural relativism is the
view that ethics are relative to the culture. For example,
in some countries it is believed that women should not be
educated because their whole role is to serve men and
mother children. If I personally believe this is WRONG, am
I imposing my cultural values on others that women are
equal to men and should have equal rights?
Cultural
relativism can also be an excuse when it is not accurate at
all. As noted previously, there are those on the
reservation who would ignore laws against assault, theft,
etc. and accuse the authorities of 'acting like white men'
when the true history of our people is of ethical behavior
not lawlessness
