1. Highlight textbooks for the students
2. Use flash cards
3. Tape recording
Use a computer to take notes.
1. Give the students an open book test
2. Try to get a one-on-one aide for the student
3. Move the student to the front of the room where they can participate easier
Make the assignments into activities to get the students involved and excited about the work.
1. Put tape/some sort of imaginary barrier around the desks so that the students don't wander around the room
2. Let the hyperactive kids sit and bounce around on a ball to get their energy out
3. Give the students a reward for finishing their work
1. Have the students work on small groups so they can receive more focused attention
2. Use small cards in assignments instead of a whole sheet of paper
3. Make assignment notebooks, which can be used for students who have ADD so that they can have a constant reminder of what they need to get done for class.
4. Supplemental aids - flash cards help a lot because by repeatedly seeing the problem and answer, the students can better retain the problem and answer in their minds.
1. When giving lectures to the students, tape record it yourself or have one of the teachers tape it for you so you can go over it anytime you want and as many times you want, at your own pace.
2. When a kid has asthma, modify some of the physical activities in physical ed such as dribbling the basketball around the court instead of playing a full game.
Tape recording a class lecture is a great idea, but make sure to ask the teacher or instructor beforehand, just as a courtesy.
Also, dribbling a basketball or walking around the gym or any less restricting activity for a student with ashtma are great ideas. Make sure that their physical exam and doctor's input is considered in planning physical activiities.
