I know Willie will never do this so I am going to post it for him. Willie Davis was nominated by the Turtle Mountain Families program as both Adult of the Year and Hero of the Year.
Way to go, Willie! There will be a banquet at Belcourt this weekend when the final award winners are announced. Just being nominated is a great honor. We are proud of you!

My attitude about awards is this. They are nice and very much appreciated by those who receive them. You reap the benefits of work, knowledge, family, friends and community support, just by being yourself. From those that I have come into contact with, who have won a community, national or similar award . They all mention this underlyng feeling, "I am who I am and do not know any other way to live." Meaning there is not front, what you see is what you get.
For those who truly love to help others, the reward is not receiving a plaque, piece of paper, etc. It's the satisfaction of knowing that people really do care enough to look at you for who you are in the inside. Just think if everyone in the world looked at giving awards like this and the way they conduct themselves politically, our world would have more promise and unity.
