I put this here before but it looks like it got deleted. My question is if you want to get business like i want to get work hauling for farmers and helping people move so I can drive my truck close t home and be home more. How do I find work if I start my own business?
Sorry, Joe. I accidentally deleted your post when removing several posts from spammers. As far as your question, I will repeat my answer....
The most important thing I have found is that marketing is not a one-shot deal. You need to do lots of different things and do them over and over. One of the cheapest is to get business cards made up. You can do these yourself using a computer, printer and card stock you can buy almost anywhere, like Staples or Wal-Mart. Or, you can buy some for under $50 for a few hundred. Give them to everyone you know. Give each of your friends and relatives two, one for them and one to give to someone.
Make up flyers and put them up in feed stores, farm supply stores and anywhere else you think people would read them. Since you are interested in moving people also, put flyers up at colleges (students move a lot) and around big apartment buildings where you would expect a lot of people to be moving in and out.
Even if you don't have your own web page, get listed on local business web pages. These are usually free. Advertise in the yellow pages, too. This is the first place a lot of people look for a service like moving.
