Small Business
Links: An Internet Road Trip
You know what a road trip is, right, where you just take off and see the country? Well, it is time for one now.
Invest yourself first! Before you pay a lot of money to consultants (even us!) to help you plan your small business, you should put in a lot of your own effort first. Go as far as you can on your own is our advice. There is a lot of free information on the Internet. We recommend you read the following sites when you have time.
From the About.com site
There are two different sections of this site with a wealth of information. You could easily spend a week or two visiting this site and it would be equivalent to an introduction to business administration course at a very good university. Amazingly, it is free and you can do it as time permits. Time, that's always the problem. You don't have enough time, do you? So, we will stop right now and tour the first site. There are hundreds of web pages here we think you should read, some before you even think about starting your own business and some you should check out each day as your business grows.
First stop:
Small business information - move around the site. Not everything there is useful for the people we know on the reservations. We don't think it should matter much to you what the fastest growing business opportunities are and these very likely are not the fastest growing opportunities in Indian country. We think your first business plan should be for you and not for the bank and certainly not for venture capitalists.
Pages we did like here include business proposals and knowing whether and how to submit one we thought were very useful. The low-budget, high impact marketing plan is another one we recommend you check out. The small business email tips was good, too. Heck, just check out the rest of the site yourself.
Don't stop now, click here for the next stop.
