emotional disorder?

I know a ten-year-old child who has major anxiety about his mother.  His mom works late nights so that his dad can stay home with him and his brothers.  When his mom is home, he demonstrates hateful behavior towards her, even becoming violent.  The rest of his (younger) brothers are very calm and seem to brush this all off.  Does he have an emotional behavior disorder, since he is the only one of the kids who is so angry and upset and violent?  Or is this natural, and he just misses his mom?
