and wide-ranging from an academic point of view, we
think it is worth remembering the comments of one of
Jennings' colleagues who she quotes in her book.
“I come to these meetings every year and hear about the
wonderful things each of you is doing at his or her
company. But I come here each year and at least one new
scandal has emerged in one of our companies. You explain
it, you isolate yourselves from the problem, and you
explain how no one could have known. Aren’t you always just
chasing after the problem, not preventing it? It seems to
me that all of you are trying to catch the tiger by its
tail.”
Although there are many good resources for discussion of
ethical issues, the solution comes down to DOING something
about it. So, we move into the issue of by-standers.
